We list businesses, not people. Specifically, we list retail, which includes bars, restaurants, shops, hotels, launderettes and much more - but does not include offices, industrial units or businesses based from home. Perhaps the simplest way of answering this question is to quote Barnes's and Alex's vision for LDC - "to list every business that is visited by more than 20 people a day" - which is quite an ambition. If this description fits your business (i.e. you want your business to be listed), then we want your company's details, no matter where you are located in the UK. Importantly, you need to be happy for your business to be identified photographically (although we don't commit to photographing it!) - soon we plan to create the facility for businesses to upload their own photos.
Keeping your business up-to-date:
The data we collect is all 'public domain data' - i.e. it exists in the public domain and is widely available to the general public - what we have done is carefully and accurately collect all this and store it in a searchable format. We have also enriched it, firstly by taking as many photographs as we can, and secondly, where possible, we interview the occupants to ask them about their business. For instance, if you own a restaurant, we will ask you the nationality of the cuisine you serve. Because of the types of businesses that we represent, to date, only two businesses have asked us not to publish their details.
What about Data Protection? Can I stop LDC from publishing my details?
We take Data Protection very seriously. We do not sell data to 'list-brokers' or people who intend to use the data for 'marketing' purposes (i.e. to bombard you with mail). We only provide our data to legitimate directories, websites and search engines.

All data provided to LDC is checked by a human (one of our researchers). We will not accept data for businesses that we cannot validate. By supplying your company's details to LDC you are explicitly consenting to our ownership of this data and to our forwarding it to our clients. We cannot guarantee that our clients will publish / list your business. LDC does not commit to photographing the premises of any business that chooses to provide its details to LDC.
